Our Story
Farm to Fire Pizza started 13 years ago on our family farm in Nanoose Bay. My family always loved producing and gathering our own food and we wanted a large outdoor kitchen for our family gatherings. At the time, food trucks were really growing in popularity, and so we took the idea for an outdoor kitchen and put it on wheels.
Our pizzas are fresh, local, unpretentious, and rustic. They’re handmade to order with simple ingredients that let the real flavors shine. Most of what we use is proudly sourced from B.C., including our living basil plants, locally grown mushrooms, creamy mozzarella cheese, and Vancouver Island ham and pepperoni, bringing the best of the West Coast to every slice.
the story of our dough
Back in 2011, I attended the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts for baking and pastry. That’s where I fell in love with cold fermentation and slow rise bread. We make all of our dough in house by hand, using no additives or conditioners, just pure simple Canadian wheat, sea salt, water and time. There’s no rushing our process, just controlled time and temperature, and that’s the foundation of every pizza we make.
the story continues …
We’re hard at work behind the scenes this year, working on opening our first brick and mortar next summer in the gateway to the Wild West Coast of Vancouver Island.
This new location will feature all your favourites and an expanded menu with a tap room, salads, deserts and gluten free options. Think pizza meets cold drinks, with a private dock and lake to cool off in, all just steps from the highway.
